2014: What A Winter!!!

Most folks in the Cincinnati tri-state will tell you, it's been one heck of a winter, and we still have over a month to go till the first day of Spring!  Safety for our movers and your possessions is our first priority at the Move Cheap® Cincinnati Movers, and we want to review some of our winter policies with our current and potential customers.  In the event of ice or snow on your scheduled moving day, please have the following prepared before our arrival.  Not doing so will prevent us from completing your moving services because the risk of injury to our movers and damage to your property is increased under these types of weather conditions.

• Walkways around the truck and to your home must be cleared and salted.  Our movers require a clear and stable path with traction to properly move your belongings.

• Truck ramps must be cleared of all debree.  Metal ramps, which are already inclined surfaces, can quickly ice over and become dangerous and slippery.

• When covering your floors for protection, please only use an adhesive floor protector.   It is never safe to use loose blankets or broke-down boxes to protect your floors.  These items will bunch-up or slip-out from under your movers feet causing injury and/or damage.

• Please, under no circumstances, pour hot or scalding water on the iced-over ground in order to melt it. The water will only refreeze and likely cause an accident.  We recommend an ice-melt product that you can purchase from your local home improvement or grocery store.

• It is against our policy to remove our footwear at any time in order to prevent an accident.  We understand you might have a concern about bringing the outside mess into your home. We suggest having a mat at your front door in order for your movers to wipe their shoes off and a broom to sweep away any excess mess.

Thank you for your understanding and for your assistance through the winter moving season. We know these extra precautions can seem tedious, but we want you to have a safe and great moving experience!

Organizing Your Home In 2014

Happy New Year from the Move Cheap® Cincinnati Movers!

Were you aware that one of the most common New Year's Resolutions for 2014 is to get the home organized? That’s right, it's at the top with "losing weight", "quitting smoking", and "spending less". No matter how cluttered or out of control your home may seem, getting organized is an achievable goal that can be easily accomplished. We want to help you get the year started right, so we organized a list of our favorite tips for getting your home organized for the New Year:

Make a list and set time windows:  

Take a look around and what needs to be done in your home.  Write down the tasks that you want to complete and set reasonable time frames that you want to finish by.  This doesn't have to be set in stone, but it will help motivate you to stay on track. 

Use a U-Box mobile storage unit:  

Portable storage units aren't just for people that are moving.  You can use a U-Box portable storage unit to keep some of your things stored safely while you are organizing your home.  As an example, maybe you have an overflowing spare bedroom – it's difficult to organize in an area where there's no space.  Storing those items in a U-Box on your property will allow you to empty the room and slowly start bringing things back in as you organize at your own speed.

            Implement a reward system:

Do you want to keep your New Year's Resolution to organize your home, but your motivation is drifting? Start a reward system!  Set up rewards (like a candy bar) that you can earn after particular tasks are completed.  It sounds slightly funny, but it works!

Micro Moving for the 2013 Holidays

With the 2013 Holidays fast approaching, many Cincinnati tri-state families need items moved within their homes to accommodate visiting family members. Our Micro Moving Service is perfect for this! For a flat fee of $75.00, two of our professional movers will come out to your home and move up to three large items within your home.

Need more than three large items moved?  No problem.  Anything over three large items reverts to our standard two hour minimum of $55.00 per hour.

Moving Tip of the Week: Scheduling Your Movers

The official moving season of 2013 is here, and it's important to know when to schedule your Move Cheap® Cincinnati Movers.  Through the peak moving season,(May through September) it is important to schedule your movers with as much advanced notice as you can give to guarantee a reservation.

If your planning to move within the first 7 days or last 7 days of the month, Move Cheap® recommends making those reservations as quickly as possible, and in some cases, as far as a month in advance!  Those dates are always the most widely requested from our customers, and most apartment leases end within those first and last 7 days, leading to a  higher volume of moving requests.  

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are the next quickest dates to book up, and are popular moving dates for families with children, or those who have a Monday through Friday work schedule.  We recommend 3 weeks notice if you're looking at a weekend move.

For all other dates throughout the peak moving season, our Cincinnati movers recommend scheduling your moving services no later than two weeks out.  That's not to say those dates won't be available if you request a moving reservation, but we can not guarantee availability or specific times if you don't.

It's also important to schedule your rental moving truck or mobile storage unit as soon as possible.  Whether it's U-Haul, Penske, Budget, ABF, PODS, PACKRAT, or UNITS, scheduling ahead of time will lead to a smother move on your moving day.

It's that time of year again.  The moving season is in full swing, and you may find yourself needing boxes for your upcoming move.  If you can't find the time to go out to pick up your boxes, or can't make it to our retail location, don't worry!  The Move Cheap® Cincinnati Movers also offer a box delivery service!
