As your favorite Cincinnati moving company, Move Cheap® always provides tools & multiple dollies at no additional charge with all of our services. Customers are still responsible for supplying moving pads and blankets, and one of the number one questions we receive is "How many blankets should I supply?".

Moving pads and blankets are important to supply with your truck because they help prevent scratches and dings to your furniture during transit. They are typically available from wherever you're renting your truck or mobile storage unit from. Below you will find the number of moving pads we suggest based on the size of truck you rent:

10 ft truck: 12 pads
12 - 14 ft truck: 18 pads
16 - 17 ft truck: 24 pads
20 - 22 ft truck: 30 pads
24 - 28 ft truck: 48 pads

We recommend blankets that are at least 68" by 55". If you're moving into a storage unit and are unable to rent moving pads, you can always purchase them from us or we can help you find a location to purchase them from!

"Could you explain how your deposit process works?"

Thanks for your question, Alyson! The Move Cheap® Cincinnati Movers deposit is a $40.00 non-refundable deposit. Our deposits are non-refundable because there are occasions where a customer may order our services as a back-up plan, or they may need to cancel last minute. When they cancel with such short notice, we are unable to fill that spot and our movers lose work. The $40.00 deposit ensures we're retaining a serious customer and guarantees their reservation in our calendar. Although deposits are non-refundable, they are transferable. If something comes up and you need to change the date of your move you won' lose or have to pay another deposit. Your deposit simply transfers to the next date.

Moving Tip of the Week: Movers in Winter

As we have again entered the midst of the winter season, we'd like to offer some small advice to our Cincinnati tri-state customers. The number one danger to movers in the winter time is ice. Please, under no circumstances, pour hot or scalding water on the iced-over ground in order to melt it. The water will only refreeze and likely cause an accident. If you choose Move Cheap® as your Cincinnati moving company, we suggest shoveling your driveways and sidewalks, and using rock salt or ice melt on the path between your truck to your home. It will also be an excellent idea to place some on the ramp of the truck, as well as around the truck itself. This will cause the ice to melt as well as give your movers better traction while carrying your furniture and boxes.

We understand you might have a concern about bringing the outside mess into your home. It will be a good idea to have a mat at your front door in order for your movers to wipe their shoes off and a broom to sweep away any excess mess. It is against our policy to remove our footwear at any time in order to prevent an accident. You also have the option to place a roll of plastic floor protection on your floor surfaces to create a path inside your home for your movers to follow. Please do not lay unsecured blankets, towels, or cardboard on your floors to protect them. Cardboard will easily slide if not taped down, and blankets easily bunch together and create obstacles your movers could easily trip over.

Moving Tip of the Week: Scam Movers

Recently, a customer rented a U-Haul truck from our Move Cheap® retail location in Cincinnati, but they also hired an individual from an ad they posted pretending to be a moving company. After helping the customer move, this scam-mover offered to take the U-Haul back for them, but what he really did was return to the customer's home to rob the customer, their neighbor, and several other people over a 400 mile trip. Fortunately this individual was caught, but as a legal moving labor company in Cincinnati, we want to pass along the signs to recognizing a scam mover:

The movers don't wear uniforms: Real moving companies care about their reputation and go the extra mile to be sure their movers are provided with uniforms. If movers show up to your home without a uniform, turn them away immediately.

The movers refuse to provide proof of insurance: If the mover you hire can't or refuses to provide proof of insurance, odds are they aren't a professional company. At the Move Cheap® Cincinnati Movers, we provide insurance to protect our customers and our movers. In fact, all of our insurance documents are provided at our retail location for viewing and verification.

The Movers can't provide proof of Workman's Compensation: This is very important! If an individual poses as a mover, and then gets hurt in your home, they could sue you! At Move Cheap®, all of our movers are protected with Workman's Comp so you won't need to worry!

The Movers use a cell phone or don't have a physical office location: These days, many individuals work for themselves from home. Often times, customers aren't sure how to prepare these glass items for their moving day, or even what to expect from the company that moves them. At Move Cheap®, we want to make sure your glass items make it from your old home to your new home. Here are a few tips to make moving glass items a cinch:

Make sure that all loose glass items have been removed from their matching furniture pieces. Examples of these can be glass shelves from china cabinets, table inserts from coffee tables, and even light-bulbs from lamps.

Mirrors and picture frames should be boxed or crated for maximum safety. These types of boxes can be purchased from your local U-Haul dealer or from your Move Cheap® Cincinnati Movers. Corner inserts or bubble wrap are also recommended.

When placing items like mirrors into your moving truck, the glass should be stood standing up. Picture frames and mirrors should never be laid flat. Shane: The right size truck

"Renting the right size truck is key. Sometimes we accept a last minute job and arrive at the job site to find the customer is moving a four bedroom house with a 14ft U-Haul, but is moving cross country. These turn into bad situations because we can't fit everything into that small of a truck. You can always call our office, and one of the managers or staff will help you decide which truck size is best for your move."

Christian: Home Owner Assistance

"I've been very fortunate to find myself on several jobs with incredibly nice customers. But there are times when a customer can't stand to watch us do all the work, and they do nothing. Some customers then try to help by carrying boxes, or stacking small furniture items in the truck. Believe me, I appreciate the help, but you should really leave the work to your movers. That's what you've paid us to do. We have been trained and are experienced with how to pack your truck properly to prevent damage. Some customers invite their friends over to help also, and then suddenly there are 20 people walking in and out of a moving truck with no real direction on how it should be loaded. This can cause damage to your goods, and we want to make sure that's prevented at all times."

Jacob: Dust & Knick-Knacks

"My crew prides itself on providing an efficient, quick, and safe moving experience. My advice to a customer who wants their move to go as quickly and smoothly as possible is to clear off all of their furniture of dust and knick-knacks. Nothings worse than moving an armoire that is covered in years of dust and dirt, and sometimes, pet hair. As your tilting it, the dust get's in your eyes, nose, and mouth and causes you to reset the object to brush it off and clean off your face. Knick-Knacks can be even worse. Consider this: If we have to clear off every piece of furniture in your home to move it, that time begins to add up. And then if those same knick-knacks aren't boxed, we have to carry them out of your old home, and back into your new home, which creates a considerable amount of trips."

Moving Tip of the Week: We Love Pets!

At the Move Cheap® Cincinnati Movers, we love our pets! We know you love your pets too, and to help your move go as smoothly as possible, here are a few tips concerning our furry, feathered, and scaly family members:

During the duration of your move, keep your animals in a crate or designated room that is off limits to your movers. Nothing could be worse or more dangerous than a mover opening a door to a room to have a dog or cat run out and then make it's way outside.

Please keep your pets out of the way of your movers. When pets are left free to roam the home during a move, there is always the potential for an animal to inadvertently get under the legs of a mover or movers as they are carrying your furniture and possessions. This is bad for both the movers, your pet(s), and your items.

Remember that moving can be stressful for animals too! Try to keep your pet's routine as regular as possible throughout the entire moving process. On your actual moving day, it is in some situations better for a pet to be taken to a friends home, a kennel, or a doggy day care until your move has been completed. Then they can come home to be acquainted to their new surroundings. Be sure to give them their favorite snacks and toys!

Before moving, be sure to take a recent picture of your pet in the event that it runs away, as well as having all of your pet's documents and licensing handy. Check to see if there are any pet laws that differ from where you currently live, and be sure to have a new vet assigned if you aren't moving locally.

If you have a special needs pet, or are moving long distance, you may want to consider using a pet moving service like TLC.

It's never too early to begin your planning process if you are gearing up for a move. In fact, the sooner you start planning, the more smoothly your move will go. As a Cincinnati Moving company, there are several common mistakes, however, that we see time and again from customers. You can benefit from reviewing what they are and avoiding them.

Being disorganized: Use a folder or binder to keep track of everything having to do with your move. This should include your receipts, paperwork, relocation information and anything else pertaining to your move. On Tuesday, November 2, 2010 a raging fire took aim at a local Lebanon, Ohio condo complex. Residents say they heard an explosion like a bomb going off before a fire ripped through the complex and injured seven people. One of the only residents whose condo survived the fire, Alicia & Randy G, contacted us, the Move Cheap Cincinnati Movers, to come and move her to a safer location out of the proximity of the damage.

Moving Tip of the Week: Getting Your Deposit Back

As your Cincinnati moving company, we deem passing on information to help make your move smoother both important and a responsibility. We've heard horror stories from renters who have lost their deposits from shady apartment complexes. Although not all apartment complexes and managers act in this manner, there are some who are out to take your money and not look back. Here are a few suggestions we've learned along the way to help return that money to your pocket:

Before moving into your new apartment, be sure to do a walk through with your apartment representative. Also be sure to bring paper to note any items that are damaged or missing in the apartment, and have the apartment representative sign the document noting any problems. Make sure both you and them have a copy. At move out time, they can't charge you if the damage was proven preexisting.

Before you sign your lease, also request an exit interview for when you move out so that you and the apartment representative can have a walk through before you leave. Many apartments decline you the opportunity for an exit interview so that they can create bogus damage charges. If you are unable to secure an exit interview in writing, it may be a good idea to select a different apartment complex altogether.

Always ask how old the carpet in your apartment is before you move in and have them provide proof through documentation. Generally, if the carpet is older than 3 to 5 years, you won't be held responsible if it sustains damage through your tenure. Be sure to ask what their protocol for carpet is. If the carpet was five years old when you move in, and they try to charge you for it when you move out, there's a problem.

Believe it or not, many complexes will charge you if you don't replace any burned out light-bulbs before you leave. If it was working when you moved in, they expect it to be working when you move out.

If you've hung any pictures during your residency, purchase a $5.00 bucket of "Patch & Paint" and a cheap putty tool from your local hardware supply store. Patching the holes in your apartment can do wonders for your deposit.

Leave no personal items behind! Anything you leave will incur a garbage or cleaning charge and they tend to add up quick and are costly. Leaving a garbage can or small book case behind could cost you $50.00 or more per item!

Cleaning is key. Vacuum your carpets, clean your bathroom and kitchens thoroughly, and make certain your floors all look presentable. Any cleaning beyond what the complex deems necessary could be charged back to you.

Lastly, make sure to repaint or prime your apartment walls if you've painted them while you lived there. Many apartment complexes these days will allow you to paint the walls, but they will also be happy to take your entire deposit if you don't paint them back to their original color or at least prime them. Before signing your lease, check with your representative about their paint policy.

Move Cheap Saves Dog's Life!

On May 28th, 2010 the Move Cheap Cincinnati Movers began unloading their customer, Polly Mangold, in Dayton, OH. The move had started in Cincinnati and was seemingly the smooth and normal moving job that Move Cheap customers had come to expect. Mrs. Mangold had tied her dog Princess to the back porch to keep her out of the way of the movers as they were moving items into her new home. While in the truck, the movers heard a terrible scream and ran to the back of the house where the sound had originated. The story quickly unfolded. Princess had jumped off the porch and in the process had hung herself on her leash. The customer, Mrs. Mangold had found her dog dead and cried out in horror. Jacob Clark, one of Move Cheap's movers remembered a show he had recently watched on Animal Planet, and immediately went to work to try and resuscitate the dog. Preforming CPR through the pup's nose, Jacob managed to bring Princess back from doggy heaven. Mrs. Mangold is thrilled, and Princess is again living happily at her side.

As most all Cincinnati moving companies can tell you, the summer is the prime season for moving. During this beautiful time of year comes the opportunity for many families to move, but it also comes with high heat and humidity. Our movers are accustomed to working under these conditions, and are consistently instructed on staying hydrated and out of the sun as much as possible. Many of our customers "pre-move" some items themselves, so we thought this would be a good moment to elaborate the real risks and hazards the summer heat can produce. At the Move Cheap Cincinnati Movers, we're not only concerned with our movers, but the customers we're moving also. What follows is an article we found from the Mayo Clinic that pertains to working in hot weather.

"How hot weather affects your body

Working in hot weather puts extra stress on your heart and lungs. Both working itself and the air temperature increase your body temperature. To dissipate heat, more blood circulates through your skin. This leaves less blood for your muscles, which increases your heart rate. If the humidity is high, your body faces added stress because sweat doesn't readily evaporate from your skin — which only pushes your body temperature higher.

Under normal conditions, your skin, blood vessels and perspiration level adjust to the heat. But these natural cooling systems may fail if you're exposed to high temperatures and humidity for too long. The result may be a heat-related illness, such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion or heatstroke.

How to avoid heat-related illnesses

To keep it cool while working in hot weather, keep these basic precautions in mind:

Take it slow. If you're used to working indoors or in cooler weather, take it easy at first. As your body adapts to the heat, gradually increase the length and intensity of your work ethic. If you have a chronic medical condition or take medication, ask your doctor if you need to take additional precautions.
Drink plenty of fluids. Your body's ability to sweat and cool down depends on adequate re-hydration. Drink plenty of water while you're working — even if you don't feel thirsty. If you're planning to work intensely or for longer than one hour, consider sports drinks instead. These drinks can replace the sodium, chloride and potassium you lose through sweating. Avoid drinks that contain caffeine or alcohol, which actually promote fluid loss.
Dress appropriately. Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing promotes sweat evaporation and cooling by letting more air pass over your body. Avoid dark colors, which can absorb the heat. A light-colored hat can limit your exposure to the sun.
Avoid midday sun. Working in the morning or evening — when it's likely to be cooler outdoors — rather than the middle of the day.
Wear sunscreen. A sunburn decreases your body's ability to cool itself.
Have a backup plan. If you're concerned about the heat or humidity, stay indoors.

Know when to call it quits

While working in hot weather, be on the lookout for heat-related illness. Signs and symptoms may include:

Weakness
Headache
Dizziness
Muscle cramps
Nausea or vomiting
Rapid heartbeat

If you suspect a heat-related illness, stop working and get out of the heat. Drink water, and wet and fan your skin. If you don't feel better within 60 minutes, contact your doctor. If you develop a fever higher than 102 F (38.9 C) or become faint or confused, seek immediate medical help."

If a moving labor service offers to drive your rental truck, they are making an illegal offer that could end up costing you thousands! You can go to this site to find a list of companies that are legally allowed to drive moving trucks.
Check their address! Some moving labor companies have registered one or more of their locations as a PO Box, or a "mailing address" from a UPS store to make themselves seem larger or more legit. If you can't find your company of choice, they're likely an illegal company.

Moving Tip of the Week: Drawers

As movers in Cincinnati, one of the top ten questions we are asked is, "Do we need to empty out our drawers?". The answer to this question is YES. The added weight from the contents of your drawers not only makes it more difficult to move them, but in some instances can cause your furniture to break. While we will on occasion move dressers and other furniture with the drawers still in them, it can also be a good idea to remove the drawers completely. Some areas of your house, condo, apartment, rental truck or storage unit may require your furniture to be turned or moved on it's side or diagonally. In these instances, it is always necessary to remove the drawers so that components don't become jammed or break.

Moving Tip of the Week: Elevators, Spiral Staircases, & Parking Spots.

The Move Cheap Cincinnati Movers have been serving the tri-state since 2005, and in that span of time, we've been to many interesting and unique places to move our customers. Museums, historic buildings, old factories, and sleep institutes are all places among our repertoire. Each building presents its own unique challenge, and we thought it would be a good idea to pass on what some of these challenges mean to you.

What many customers are unaware of is that elevators will actually slow down a job versus helping to speeding it up. If your move does require an elevator, it will be a good idea to try to reserve it for the time your moving services have been scheduled. More times than not, elevators are usually small and not much can be loaded inside of them. Additionally, most elevators have to be shared with other movers, or with the other residents of the building, which can lead to longer wait times and a larger bill to you.

Spiral staircases found in older Cincinnati homes, while absolutely beautiful, usually are tighter than modern spirals. Large and bulkier furniture items will often times not fit, and some staircases have banisters that cannot be removed to accommodate even the average sized item. This is especially true if the staircase is sharing an external wall. If you're moving into a house or apartment that has one of these staircases, you may want to measure the width, height, and depth against your larger furniture, and check to see if any banisters can be removed. It may also be a good notion to measure the size of the doors, as in our experience, older spiral staircases often times lead to older and smaller door frames. Massive amounts of time can be lost when moving pieces of furniture that won't fit. A few simple measurements can easily resolve that problem before the situation arises.

Parking spots can also create considerable challenges. Inner city moves frequently mean you have limited places available at your disposal to park. In these situations, you'll want to place orange cones on either end of your truck for street parking, and have someone available to watch the contents while your movers are loading or unloading. Since 2005, The Move Cheap Cincinnati Movers have been helping customers throughout the Cincinnati tri-state area move into their new homes. The #1 phrase we hear almost every time is, "I didn't know I had so much stuff." It's always a great idea to take this into consideration before you order your rental truck or moving services. The last time you moved, you may only have needed a 14 foot truck, and everything fit inside fine. The next time you move, you may need to consider a larger truck like a 17 or 24 foot. Families and lives change. Some people have children and acquire toys and child's furniture, while others may have started collecting knick knaks. Moving Tip of the Week: Labeling Boxes & Direction

As a Cincinnati moving company who has been serving the tri-state area since 2005, our wealth of moving knowledge has given us the ability to offer our customers the smoothest moves possible. One situation we often seem to run into is that customers sometimes forget to label their boxes. This is important for two major reasons.

First, labeled boxes help us load your truck properly. If we don't know what boxes are and aren't fragile, those contents could stand a good chance of sustaining damage.

Second, as we are unloading your truck, unmarked boxes will force us to ask you where each individual box will need to go in your new home. Often times this means our customers will have to open the box to remember its contents. This creates a longer unload time, and ultimately, more money a customer will have to pay.

Another tip to help speed up the moving process is to be sure you are present as we're bringing in each piece of furniture to your new home. Even though we are trained and experienced Cincinnati movers, we unfortunately were never given the gift of telepathy. Being present to tell us where you'd like each piece of your furniture will ensure a much speedier move. Nothing can slow down a move quicker than a mover trying to find the homeowner to ask where a piece of furniture goes.

One method our customers have used in the past was labeling each box and furniture item with a piece of colored tape that corresponds with a particular room. For example: red = living room, yellow = dining room, green = bedroom, etc. As always, organization will always save you money.

Moving Tip of the Week: Nuts & Bolts

Most customers we work with in the Cincinnati Tri-State area are often well prepared when we arrive to move them. As Cincinnati movers, one organization area we've noticed that could use a suggestion is a "nuts and bolts" box. There are many pieces of furniture throughout a customer's house that need to be disassembled: Washers and dryers, dining tables, bed frames, computer desks, china cabinets, etc. Each of those items can contain several screws, nuts, washers, and bolts that are easy to lose and forget. We suggest putting those items in labeled zip-lock bags, with each bag containing the pieces to one particular piece of furniture. Then place the bags in one box labeled 'Nuts & Bolts'. This box should be the last thing placed on your truck or container, and the first thing off so that it is easily accessible. Not only will it be a breeze to locate the pieces to put your furniture together, but it will make for a smoother move all the way around.

Moving Tip of the Week: Children & Pets

Moving day can be the most stressful day of the year for many tri-state families, and as your Cincinnati movers, our singular goal is remove that stress from the process for you. To help do so, here are a couple new tips to make your move as smooth as possible.

Before your moving day, it is an excellent idea to try to arrange for a family member, daycare, or babysitter to watch your children if under the age of 10. While we love kids, we never like to see children become hurt. Occasionally, children will escape their parents supervision and head straight for the moving truck. Whether they are playing on the ramp, inside the cab, or in the cargo area, a moving truck is never a safe place for a child to be. Children also have a tendency to accidentally block paths and stairwells while we're carrying your furniture, which can cause an accident to your child, your movers, or your belongings. Customers and their children are not permitted in the moving truck or container while we are working. Additionally, we are not responsible if an accident should occur because they were in the work area.

Pets can also sometimes pose a moving obstruction. As with children, it will be a good idea to find a petsitter on moving day. Some movers have mild allergies to cats or dogs while others may have more severe symptoms which can produce rashes and heavy sneezing. Some customers have also, on occasion, placed their pets in a room without making their movers aware. Once we opened the door, the animal makes a break for it. While no animal has ever been lost, we have seen a few escape their confines temporarily. Please be advised that Move Cheap is never responsible if a pet is lost. Additionally, we will not enter a household when an animal has an aggressive temperament. Many Petsmarts now offer a PetsHotel with Doggy Day Camp.

Moving Tip of the Week: Winter and Floors

As we have entered the midst of the winter season, we'd like to offer some small advice to our Cincinnati tri-state customers. The number one danger to movers in the winter time is ice. Please, under no circumstances, pour hot or scalding water on the iced over ground in order to melt it. The water will only refreeze and likely cause an accident. If you choose Move Cheap as your Cincinnati moving company, we suggest using rock salt or ice melt on the path between your truck to your home. It will also be a good idea to place some on the ramp of the truck, as well as around the truck itself. This will cause the ice to melt as well as give your movers better traction while carrying your furniture and boxes.

We understand you might have a concern about bringing the outside mess into your home. It will be a good idea to have a mat at your front door in order for your movers to wipe their shoes off. It is against our policy to remove our footwear at any time in order to prevent an accident. You also have the option to place a roll of plastic floor protection on your floors to create a path inside your home for your movers to follow.

Moving Tip of the Week: Scheduling Your Move

One of the most important steps of the moving process is knowing when to schedule your move, but from time to time we have been forced to turn down a moving request simply because we are already booked. We know that finding that particular day to move is key in any moving situation. As your Cincinnati Moving Company, we are normally available to handle last minute requests, but we've noticed the customer has often not had enough time to prepare to move on these occasions. Here are some tips our experience has taught us to help schedule your move, and assure that our services are not already booked.

The first five days and the last five days of each month will always book up the fastest. This is generally the time when leases are up on apartments and those residences are moving. If you're planning to move on one of these days, it is ALWAYS a good idea to give Move Cheap Cincinnati Movers a month to a month and a half notice to guarantee a reservation.
Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are the next set of days that book up quickly. These are often the days when our customers are off of work and/or have the time to move. We find that two weeks is usually sufficient time if you'd like a weekend spot.
The Summer months of June , July , and August are the busiest season for Move Cheap. This is when kids are out of school and many families use their vacations to move. If you are planning to move during these months, two to three weeks advance notice is a good time to schedule outside of the exceptions listed above.

Keep in mind that these same guidelines can also be considered when setting up a reservation for your rental moving truck (Uhaul, Penske, Budget), trailer (ABF), or mobile storage unit (PODS, Units, GetaSam, Packrat). The sooner you book your move and your moving transport, the smoother your move will be.

Moving Tip of the Week: Rental Trucks

As Cincinnati movers, our customers often ask us who they should select as their provider for a rental truck. As there are only three large competitors in the Cincinnati Area (Penske, Uhaul, Budget), here are a few tips to put you in the right direction.

The first thing we feel you should always look for is customer service. If a company is incapable of treating you right or making you feel comfortable, odds are they treat their truck inventory the same way.
Price is always a factor, but how far will that price get you? When renting locally, most companies charge you a base price in addition to a mileage charge. Each company is different, so be sure to compare all companies. When moving one way, or long distance, each company will give you a flat rate for the truck. What you need to watch out for here is how many days they give you to use the truck and how many miles are included in that price. Uhaul gives you a set allowance of miles and charges for each additional mile over, while both Penske and Budget give you unlimited miles. Make sure you can complete your move with the provisions given from each company.
What is the condition of the truck? Which ever dealer you decide to rent your moving truck from, be sure to take a good look at the trucks they keep on their lot and the condition they're in. Is the tire tread good? Are there a lot of visible dings and dents? Is the cargo area swept out and clean? Do all the lights work? If you can answer no to any of these questions, it is probably a good idea to select a different dealer.
How old is the truck? If a truck is rented to you that has well over 200,000 miles on it, it is definitely worth asking for a lower mileage truck. Always ask your dealer how often they service their trucks to be sure your receiving a road worthy vehicle.
Ramp height can also be a determining factor when selecting a truck rental company. Uhaul is universally known for having the lowest ramps and therefore easier to load, while Budget's are a medium height, and Penske's are the highest in the industry. Some companies also offer a lift gate, but they normally slow the moving process down.
Be sure to compare the different types of insurances that are offered by the respective companies and also check with your insurance company to determine if they cover you driving the truck and/or its contents.
Our last suggestion to help you select a truck rental company is to read their customer reviews. There are places all over the internet, and even on the company's sites themselves where customers have written reviews about their experiences. When in doubt, google the company, and look for their reviews in the local business section.

Moving Tip of the Week: Prepping Appliances

As Cincinnati movers, Move Cheap's service is all about saving our customers time and money without sacrificing quality. A key tip in saving time is having your appliances prepped before we arrive to move them, and/or ready to install when they are unloaded in to your new home.

Refrigerators are easy enough, but if you have an ice maker or a water dispenser, you also have an attached water line. Before disconnecting this line from your fridge, be sure to turn it off first. Not doing so could cause a small lake to form in your kitchen! Once the power and water have been disconnected, you may want to remove any shelves from the inside of the fridge that don't seem stable. We have also found that its a good idea to measure the new space where you plan to place your fridge. There's nothing worse than moving into your new home only to realize your fridge won't fit.
Dryers are usually lite and easy to move. It's the dryer's plug that can cause a moving nightmare! Some dryers have a 3 prong power cord, while others have a 4 prong. Before moving into your new home, check to see what type of receptacle (or power outlet) has been installed for your laundry area. If you need to change cords, one can be purchased at your local Sears or Lowes. Your dryer vent hose may also need to be looked at as some laundry areas may require a longer hose.
Washers will generally be the heaviest of your appliances, but that can be avoided if you run it through an extra spin cycle to help get rid of the access water collected inside. If you haven't moved in some time, it will be necessary to check your water connections to be sure they haven't rusted shut or need to be replaced. Before disconnecting, be sure you turn the water source off. Lefty loosey, righty tighty!
Gas Appliances will need to have their gas valve closed before disconnecting.

Moving Tip of the Week: Flat Screen TVs

As a Cincinnati Moving Company, customers often call us and ask how they should prepare their flat screen television for transport. As the cost of these televisions have fallen, nearly every household in America now has one. Here at Move Cheap Cincinnati Movers, we want everyone's television to make it through the moving process so it can be enjoyed in their new home. Here are a few tips that we recommend when moving your flat screen.

If at all possible, always keep the original container the TV was packaged in. This will be the best box to transport your TV as it was designed for it.
If you don't have the original box, Uhaul now offers a box for flat screens. Keep in mind, however, that this box is costly and will not work for every television.
If you do not have the original, and cannot find a box that will fit, your next best option will be to craft one. You'll want to protect the screen with a non-abrasive blanket, and then wrap the television with plastic wrap. Once that has been completed, you'll need to fashion corrugated cardboard on the outside of the wrapped TV, and tape it securely. It is now ready for transport!
While being prepared and positioned into your moving truck, your flat screen television should NEVER be laid down flat. All flat screens whether they're LCD, LED, or Plasma, should ALWAYS remain vertical. Laying them flat could cause the technology to malfunction, and it creates a larger surface area to sustain damage.
Once your TV has arrived at your new home, it's always a good idea to remove it from its packaging and plug it in to be sure it wasn't damaged during your move.

Moving Tip of the Week: Light bulbs

As Cincinnati movers, we feel it is important to share our wealth of moving knowledge with our customers so that you can have a better moving experience. This weeks moving tip involves light bulbs. We recommend to all of our customers that they remove the light bulbs from all of their lamps, entertainment centers, and other items to prevent shattering during your move. What most customers don't know is that the inside of a moving truck is constantly vibrating. This can sometimes cause loose light bulbs to work themselves out of their sockets resulting in a break, and in the case of larger bulbs, a large pile of glass. Before your movers arrive, it is a good idea to place your bulbs in a separate and well padded box marked as fragile glass for your movers to identify.
